Hyderabad’s last Nizam remembered on his 136th birthday

The 136th birth anniversary of last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was observed by family members, historians and heritage buffs in the city on Wednesday.The birth anniversary was observed by paying respects to Mir Osman Ali Khan at Masjid-e-Judi at King Koti, where he was laid to rest.

HYDERABAD: The 136th birth anniversary of last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was observed by family members, historians and heritage buffs in the city on Wednesday.The birth anniversary was observed by paying respects to Mir Osman Ali Khan at Masjid-e-Judi at King Koti, where he was laid to rest. All the services and initiatives rendered by the last Nizam were remembered.“Mir Osman Ali Khan was a most secular ruler and his services were still remembered by the people of all the religions,” Nizam’s grandson Nawab Najaf Ali Khan told TOI after paying respects to his grandfather in Hyderabad.“Ganga-Jamuni Tahzeeb is apparent that people from different religions came together to pay tributes to my grandfather,” Najaf Ali added.The family members and historians opined that it’s high time the state government recognises the umpteen contributions and services of Mir Osman Ali Khan whose vision aided Hyderabad to develop into a modern state. They also urged the state government to heed towards his role for the growth and development and celebrate the birth anniversary of the last Nizam by declaring a holiday.“Celebrating the birth anniversary every year in a grand manner is the best tribute to such a great ruler,” said Najaf Ali Khan.
Great grandson of last Nizam Mohammed Anas Ali Khan, Captain Pandu Ranga Reddy, Anuradha Reddy, Adnan Saleem, senior Congress leader Anil Kumar, social activist Imam Tahseen, TRS leader Mahinder Singh, Mahant Thakur Das (Sandeep Mishra) and others were also present along with Najaf Ali.
